Azad Rahaman enjoyed creating songs for children. Many of his compositions were performed on 'Esho Gaan Shikhi', a popular program aired in the 1970s on Bangladesh Television. His songs predominantly portrayed moral values, love for country and and its people. Some of his popular children songs are, 'Shat Shorer Raja', 'Manusher Moto Dekhte Hole Manush Hoyna', 'Amra jaatir Bhobishhot', 'Ondokare Thakbona' etc. In early 80s, he served as the Program Director & Music Conductor for Bangladesh Shishu Shangathan (now Shishu Aacademy) and structured children's choir. This choir group performed his compositions in different national events. One of his significant compositions was the theme song of 'Notun Kuri' which was penned by eminent poet of the country, Gulam Mustafa. Azad Rahaman has written dance drama (Alor Desh, Macher Goppo), composed songs for social awareness (National Polio Vaccine Campaign etc), orchestrated songs performed by children in TV, Radio and national events throughout his lifetime. As an Advisory Board Member of SAHIC (National Centre for Hearing and Speech for Children), Azad Rahaman composed song to be sung by hearing-impaired children, 'Mora Shunte Pai Kotha, Gaite Pari Gaan'.
